The Jester in his shadow side becomes the Stranger and can have many difficulties understanding himself by looking at others for confirmation of who he is, never finding it, because he is constantly changing appearance. This leads him to isolate himself from the world or on the contrary to an excessive attraction towards himself that sometimes results in narcissism. He tends to assume a mask of superficiality and fears to confront himself for fear of not liking himself or having to deal with too painful subjects. He is also afraid of not finding recognition once he shows others who he really is. For this reason he prefers to change “clothes continuously” and a lack of self-esteem is concealed by impeccable behavior.
